Guardian Home Program for Washington State

At Coplar Creek Standard Poodles (CCSP,) all of our dogs live indoors as part of the family participating in outings and dog friendly activities and AKC competition,  whether or not they are
used for breeding. In an effort for us to expand our breeding program, we are introducing a Guardian Home program.  Some breeders have similar programs that might be called "Foster" or
"Leasing."  This program allows us to continue with a top notch breeding & training program without raising any of our dogs in a kennel environment.

Puppies, young adults or adults are available for a nominal adoption fee to our guardian homes. Puppies in Guardian homes have shorter breeding careers. After which, our guardian family
will retain the dog for the life of the dog. We also offer our guardian families the opportunity to keep one puppy as their own personal companion from one of the future litters at no charge.
In the case of a male, you may select one puppy from one of our personal females that has puppies with your male.

Registration of the dog will be with CCSP until after the dog is spayed/neutered.

Day to day expense and regular Veterinary care will be the responsibility of the Guardian home.

Breeding expenses and health testing pertinent to breeding will be the responsibility of CCSP

How to qualify as a guardian:

Be willing to feed what we feed our dogs and follow breeders recommendations for basic grooming, the dogs basic health care and veterinarian care, such as vaccine schedules, the use of
certain medications, etc. and emergency care as needed.

The primary caregiver must have a schedule that will not cause the dog to be left home alone for long periods of time on a regular basis.

No other intact dogs should ever be on the premises to prevent unwanted mating.

You must live within 300 miles of Tacoma, WA. No anticipated job transfers that remove the dog beyond this 300 mile radius, until the dog is six years old or spayed or neutered or both
parties agree in writing.

You must be willing to enforce basic obedience either through formal class training or if very experienced -  training at home.

You must have a physical fence or an Invisible Fence.

You must be willing to openly communicate with CCSP about any matter related to the dog and allow me to visit your home.

You must be willing to work with us to complete health testing, in most cases you will be able to take the dog to a local Vet for the testing. Testing may include hips, eyes, Vwd, SA, NE, &
blood test.

You must be willing to sign a legal and binding contract (provided upon approval.)

We will take care of the dog for no charge at any time that you are out of town.

For Females

Females – Will produce Two to Four litters (not more than one litter per year) unless both parties agree.  On litter one  CCSP retains control of entire litter unless Guardian home wishes to
keep puppy as personal companion.  You must be willing to work with us to coordinate the breeding of a female, by taking her for blood test to determine proper time of breeding. If the
breeding is to be an AI (Artificial Insemination), we may ask that you take her to a local Vet for the procedure, this will allow you to keep her with you until closer to her whelp date. For a
Natural breeding, you will need to take her for blood testing, and then be willing to work with us for her transportation for her breeding. We want our dogs to remain with you as much as
possible.

During her gestation period, you will keep in close contact with us. You must agree not to take her to any public dog places such as a park to limit the chance of possible infection.

Understand and agree that females will need to come back to us at about 6 weeks gestation (unless otherwise agreed that she stay with you) and will give birth at our home unless agreed
otherwise by both parties. Females will be with us for about 7-9 weeks after giving birth and then will be returned to you. This will not be more than once per year unless otherwise agreed on
by both parties. At 4-6 years of age or sooner the dog will be spayed or neutered and will then stay with you in their forever home.

For Males

Males – Will be neutered between age Four & Six years old (unless both parties agree to another arrangement.)
You must be willing to work with us to coordinate breeding of our males, we may ask that you take the dog to a local Vet for collection, and shipping of Semen, this will allow the dog to stay
with you. Understand that in some cases we will want to use the dog for a natural breeding, thus we will need him to stay with us for a short period of time, usually 7-10 days. We reserve the
right to have this dog collected and frozen for breeding purposes; we will retain sole breeding rights to this dog.
